BOMA International hosted The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY®) Awards on July 9, 2020 in the first-ever virtual awards ceremony to honour the best of the best in commercial buildings. The 2020 competition featured 78 buildings from eight BOMA International regions. Canadian properties excelled at the BOMA International Awards Gala – winning an incredible three awards. The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Awards are the most prestigious and comprehensive programs of their kind in the commercial real estate industry, recognizing quality in buildings and rewarding excellence in building management.

Finalists at the International level must first compete and win both at their local and regional BOMA levels. All facets of a building’s operations and management are thoroughly evaluated, spanning community involvement, tenant relations, to energy management, accessibility, emergency evacuation procedures, building personnel training programs, and overall quality indicators.

The Earth Awards aim to highlight the importance of resource conservation and sustainable commercial building management. It is presented to properties that have made significant efforts to improve their environmental performance.
