Plan your events to coincide with celebrated environmental awareness dates, such as:

Earth Hour – March

The World Wildlife Fund’s worldwide Earth Hour event raises awareness about climate change. It is an annual event held on the last Saturday of March, encouraging businesses to turn off non-essential lights for one hour. 

World Water Day – March

World Day for Water  is celebrated every March 22 with the annual campaign theme changing every year to continue to raise awareness and action about the various water conservation issues.

Earth Month – April

Earth Month celebrated in over 175 countries with businesses taking time to reflect, and bring awareness to environmental issues. 

International Day for Biological Diversity – May

May 22 is the International Day for Biological Diversity to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. To support the diverse issues, each year a different theme is highlighted.

Canadian Environment Week – June

Canadian Environment Week is an annual event held during the first week of June to coincide with World Environment Day. Canadian Environment Week challenges Canadians to do more to protect and preserve Canada’s environment.

The Commuter Challenge – June

The Commuter Challenge is a Canada-wide event that celebrates active and sustainable transportation. It promotes friendly competition to encourage individuals to consider healthier and cleaner modes of commuting.

Clean Air Day – June

Clean Air Day is an annual celebration to increase public awareness and action on clean air and climate change. 

World Oceans Day – June

World Oceans Day is an opportunity to celebrate and reflect upon the health of our oceans. 

National Forest Week – September

National Forest Week highlights the important role of forests in our daily lives and is a time to celebrate Canadians’ connection with our forests.

Circular Economy Month – October

Circular Economy Month is dedicated to educating and empowering Canadians to support an economy that protects the planet and prioritizes people.
