CD SONTER is excited to launch a series of on-demand sustainability training courses! These courses will provide property management team members with access to the information you need to know about key sustainability topics, including:

  6. Resilience & Site
  7. Bundle Pack – inclusive of all 6 courses

All courses include a training video and correlated quiz. Upon completion, you will receive a Course Certificate. All courses are BOMA BEST® 4.1-compliant.

Energy & Carbon Course

In this session, we will cover essential topics such as energy and carbon performance assessment, benchmarking, and tracking and monitoring energy and carbon usage. The Energy and Carbon training course will empower you to:

  • Effectively plan for and integrate energy and carbon conservation into your operations and maintenance activities.
  • Explore key Energy Conservation Measures and Carbon Reduction Measures that can optimize building performance.
  • Understand how to benchmark, track, and monitor energy and carbon usage on-site.
  • Discover how critical building essentials such as controls, lighting, demand management, HVAC efficiency, and building envelope contribute to energy and carbon conservation.
  • Provide an introduction to the concepts of decarbonization and net-zero buildings.

Water Course

In this session, we will cover essential topics such as Water Assessments, Benchmarking, Tracking and Monitoring, and Water Hazards. The Water training course will provide an overview on how to:

  • Conduct a comprehensive water assessment to understand onsite water consumption.
  • Discover effective Water Conservation Measures and how to implement them.
  • Gain insights into benchmarking, tracking, and monitoring water use effectively.
  • Understand potential water hazards and learn how to prepare for and mitigate water damage.
  • Explore the importance of training programs and projects that highlight innovative practices in water management and stewardship.

IAQ & Hazards Course

The IAQ and Hazards training course is aimed to help property management staff understand and plan for proper indoor air quality thresholds and procedures at your site. The IAQ and Hazards training course will cover:

  • Maintenance practices impacting indoor air quality.
  • Applicable indoor air quality standards and guidelines.
  • Suggested building performance goals.
  • Typical causes of indoor air quality complaints and suggested remedies.
  • Radon: health effects, legislation, testing, and mitigation.
  • Refrigeration and indoor air quality hazards.
  • Indoor air quality assessment, ventilation, exhaust, and filtration.
  • Indoor air quality in renovation and maintenance.

Accessibility & Wellness Course

This course emphasizes how accessibility and wellness contribute to a positive building experience. Property managers will learn strategies to enhance air quality, leverage natural lighting, and utilize assistive technologies to create comfortable, healthy environments. This training video covers critical topics essential to modern property management, including:

  • Accessibility: Incorporating standards like the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Strategies to create welcoming spaces for all.
  • Comfort, Views, and Acoustics:
    • Thermal Comfort.
    • Indoor Air Quality.
  • Occupant Experience and Wellbeing:
    • Effective use of service request portals.
    • Communication tools for engaging occupants and addressing their needs.

Custodial & Waste Course

In addition to cleaning best practices, the Custodial and Waste Training includes detailed instruction on the Green Cleaning Program and Waste Audit best practices. Key topics covered include:

  • Sustainable procurement and environmentally responsible sourcing.
  • Custodial maintenance and operations, including:
    • Integrated pest management.
    • BOMA® enhanced cleaning protocols.
  • Custodial assessment with a focus on the BOMA BEST® green cleaning standards for products and equipment.
  • Comprehensive waste management, auditing, and performance measurement.
  • Best practices for handling waste during renovations and construction.

Resilience & Site Course

In this session we will provide education on the topics of site Resilience, Climate Risks, Site Management Strategies, and Smart Technologies. The Resilience and Site training course will cover:

  • What is resilience?
  • Drivers of resilient development.
  • What is ‘Climate Risk’ and how can you deal with it?
  • What are the natural, technological, and human-caused hazards that can affect your site?
  • Key site management strategies.
  • How to protect your critical systems.
  • Smart Technologies and how to responsibly use them.
